When we find ourselves overwhelmed by our circumstances it’s often hard to muster the strength or energy to be happy for all that we’ve been blessed with. We lose sight of all that we have that others still pray for and strive to attain or achieve. We want more and sometimes when we don’t see ourselves moving in a positive direction, upwards and forwards we feel disappointed and depressed. We may even feel that we are being left behind in comparison to the lives of others who find success in their careers, with creating the lives they dreamed of, building a family, having children, advancements in their jobs and other forms of earthly fortunes.

Sometimes we only consume ourselves with the materialistic self-seeking sides of life. We may forget our good fortune that we have been blessed with health wise, being able to have a roof over our heads, food to eat every day. Having people who genuinely love and care for us in our lives. A friend to call, a hand to hold, a love to love, a listening ear, a warm hug or embrace that brings comfort at the end of a rough day. The well wishes and greetings we receive as we plow through our days. We may forget that we have been blessed to see our children grow into mature adults with families of their own, blessed to still have both of our parents still alive and involved in our lives. The gifts of our parents passing on family traditions, history, culture, heritage and favorite pass times.

The joy of knowing that in the midst of being in a harsh world you are not alone. Knowing your struggle in life is filled with purpose, and that your life is meaningful and will be meaningful in the long run. Know that everything has it’s time and place. The way things unfold may not be along our personal timelines, yet everything happens for a reason in our lives. There are no coincidences, just blessings, lessons good and bad, opportunities to learn, grow, and keep moving forward despite the rough patches. We have to intentionally stay positive during the ebb and flow of our lives. Embrace the undulating trials and triumphs and understand it is all for the greater good.

We must take time to enjoy creation, the beauty that exists all around us even in the midst of ugliness, the beauty of a sunrise or sunset, the ocean breeze, the turn of the tides, all the wonderful things on our planet that are extraordinary and unexplainable, the awe of the created, the circle of life, the bright beginnings and the fulfilling ends. The joy of the journey and having hope and faith that God is in control and all we need to do is to trust our paths, trust our journeys that we will find our way and do and be all that we are destined to. We must however be aware of our attitudes and focus. We can choose to keep a positive mindset and be thankful, hopeful and trust in faith that things will eventually turn around or we can dwell on all that went wrong, all that we don’t have or have not yet accomplished, and all that we have experienced that was difficult and gut wrenching. We can choose to look up and forward expectant of change in the future, the choice is ours. It is all about perspective and attitude to our circumstances and situations, how we choose to take control of our emotions and live positively instead of dwelling on the negative …The Choice is yours!
